Tonga Eco Tourism

tonga islands
Eco tourism in Tonga is in its infancy but there are several notable programmes that are established. The leader in these is the preservation and protection of the humpback whales which visit the islands each year from July to October. The government has endorsed strict regulations in whale watching including restricted parameters for boats and no fly zones.

Eu'a Island to the south of Tongatapu has recognised the importance of eco-tourism as a tourist product and several tour operators have set up green tours including village visits and hiking tours into the National Park.
